Mountain Top Lover's High

Updated: Dec 1, 2020

Hot damn! Happy Valentine's Day to all of you lovers out there.  Often I am sharing swoon worthy images of amazing nature scenes, or gorgeous flowers, or high fashion... but for today, it is all about this couple!

I just love all of these photos taken by Chugach Peaks Photography. They captured this couple perfectly.   They are so sweet and you can tell... this groom is freaking in L-O-V-E!!!!

Okay but let's back up here a bit. This elopement was just two people, sneaking off to get married, which I LOVE. I am a total sucker for elopements. It's snowing right now, and in between typing I'm making homemade baked mac and cheese for my hubby's Valentines Day dinner.

So settle in. I want to tell you this story.

And there are just so many good pictures to share!

Theresa contacted me because she was going to be in Alaska the first two weeks of July for a conference and thought... why not get married in Alaska?

Right?! Why not!

Our bride wanted a spot very mountainous (CHECK!)

AND somewhere that "screamed ALASKA!"  (CHECK! CHECK!)

So this adorable couple, Theresa and Jason from Wisconsin booked us and started planning their Alaska get away.

Theresa wanted wedding flowers that included rustic greenery and a touch of whimsy with wildflowers.  I loved the white irises the florist incorporated, which really pulled this bouquet together.  It gives it such a beautiful, wild Alaskan feel, but the colors were still delicate and soft.

Our couple decided on a simple ceremony at Alyeska Resort.  Laura Wilson was their coordinator and met Theresa in her hotel room to get ready. They kicked Jason out of the room and then did a first look by the pond, out along side the hotel.

After seeing his bride for the first time, and having a tearful intimate moment between the two of them, they took off on an adventure with their photographer to capture some fun photos before the ceremony.

And it got a little steamy...

At first they considered an Alaska cruise but thought they would see more of the state if they traveled independently.

I loved that they were so willing to tromp around through deep grass, scramble up rocks, and be adventurous, so they were able to get so many great photos from their fantastic photographer.

Then it was back to the resort to make it legal! They took the tram up the mountain to have a beautiful mountain top ceremony.

Rev. Dorothy officiated in a personalized ceremony. In the photo below the groom is reaching for the rings from our coordinator, Laura Wilson.

Once it was legal, they popped the champagne and toasted to love! Because it is a celebration after all. Even if it is just two people...

I seriously cannot get enough of this groom's happy face!

Yeah buddy! You won! Huge congrats to Theresa and Jason.  You guys make my nerdy planner's heart melt.

MEET REBECCA

Hey there! I am Rebecca Kopperud, a born and bred Alaskan, as well as the owner and chief designer behind La Boum Events.

Are you thinking about eloping? Good! I think eloping is incredibly romantic and brave. It is throwing out the rule book, and putting the focus back on the two of you, where it belongs. Eloping is a movement that has been growing over the past few years. For many, it is a decision that corrects a host of issues presented by the wedding industry, and allows for a genuine celebration of a big life moment. As a wedding planner I don’t want to be a part of the problem, I want to be a part of the solution. And I want to support you.

I have been in business offering unique elopements in Alaska for years, long before it became popular. We have developed sought after industry connections, and a quality of service that is unsurpassed. You simply won’t find a one-size-fits-all elopement here. Everything truly is about you, and your special day.

We take on a limited amount of clients, so we can focus on personalization and quality. We offer a completely unique, unbundled experience so you can have exactly what you want and nothing you don’t. There is nothing cookie-cutter about what we do.
