A Northern Lights Themed Wedding

Originally from Alaska, this bride now resides in Vegas.  She is a colorful person with creative ideas and an adventurous spirit.  She had wanted to be married in a white pant suit, but when that didn't work out -  she was married in this adorable and classy white dress with a veil bow at her waist.

Her two older brothers served as her man-maids and her nieces (pictured above) were her flower girls dressed in colorful flower patterned dresses with navy petticoats. Instead of flowers - they carried bubble wands.

And don't forget the Xtra Tuffs. If you are from Alaska, they need no explanation. If you aren't from here... well they won't make any sense to you.  But the long and the short of it... these are commercial grade rain boots used on fishing boats and canneries.  Somewhere along the way... and I mean way back along the way - they became a kind of Alaskan fashion icon.

Guests congregated out in Moose Meadows in Girdwood.  We hiked all the guests out to a prearranged spot, while they listened to the sweet tunes of Bob Parson.  I just love live guitar music in a mountain meadow.  Talk about setting the stage for a beautiful and intimate ceremony.

The flower girls preceded the bride and were blowing bubbles on the wind.  Amanda then came and joined her groom - where they were married in front of their family and friends and the Alaskan mountains.

Myself and Reese, one of my assistant coordinators then went ahead of guests to Jack Sprat, where we set the tables and decorated.  Jack Sprat is one of my all time favorite Alaskan restaurants - seriously, you have to try their sweet potato fries!

Our team designed dinner and drink menu cards with the bride's northern lights theme in mind.

Hey there! I am Rebecca Kopperud, a born and bred Alaskan, as well as the owner and chief designer behind

La Boum Events.

I began my career in event planning organizing conferences and meetings. In 2012 I had the opportunity to strike out on my own and start my own company. I choose the name La Boum Events because it is slang for "the party!"   I was looking for a name that reflected my love of french culture, my bubbly personality and above all, my love for entertaining.  La Boum Events was born and we absolutely took off planning Alaska's best weddings and celebrations.

Since then I have invited other super organizers and decorators to collaborate with me to offer spectacular event planning services throughout Alaska. Meet our team on our ABOUT page.
