Alaska Destination Wedding Among the Mountains

Updated: Sep 16, 2019

Stunning! Can I just say it? That is how I would describe this ceremony. The whites against the wood grain. The Alaskan mountains towering above in the picture window. It was perfect.

Since this was a destination wedding, Absolutely everyone was from the lower 48. They all came up to witness the festivities and to check out the great land! Ericka and Forrest were this adorably lovely couple from Wisconsin. They own a lodge and simply wanted to have the perfect wedding away from home with only their closest friends.

The bride had great style, was decisive. We have done quite a few ceremonies at the beautiful Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows in Girdwood, Alaska. This is to-date my absolute favorite ceremony transformation. The billows of white flower petals snuggling among the assorted candles, looks like ... I don't know. Luxurious frosting! I just want to eat it. The bride preferred everything to be symmetrical, so - we made sure it was even-steven. Photo credit: Love Adventured

Once inside the ballroom, the DJ and lighting company had beautiful soft blue uplighting. They also provided pipe and drape on either side of the room that covered these large quilts that decorate the walls. Photo: Love Adventured

The chargers, linens and chair sashes were a combination of linens provided by the hotel and items that were rented through our decor rental shop.

If you are planning an event at Alyeska, just a quick tip - they provide these beautiful little rustic wood rounds with oil lamp candles, for no extra charge. For a complimentary decor item, they are really nice and add a little of that Alaskan nature to the table. Photo: Love Adventured

Photo: Love Adventured. The ceremony had been earlier in the day. It was a beautiful day, as spring came quite early this year. Guests then walked over to the Alyeska Resort for the reception. As part of our design services, we created coordinated table numbers, menu cards, escort cards, welcome sign, memorial sign, favor sign and card basket signage. We used the same navy and silver border and coordinated all of the elements with the same font.

The groom's father had passed away a few years ago. The couple wanted to bring dad into the festivities, and did a memorial tequila shot bar. The bartenders poured tequila through the above ice luge into a halved lime with a salted rim. Guests took a shot and rang a bell in dad's honor. It might sound overly cheesy, but it really was so personal. It felt like he was there celebrating with them. Photo: Love Adventured

"First, we would like to say wow' you and your team did such a wonderful job! Everything was exactly, no better than what was in our vision for this day. Rebecca, thank you for really listening to us on our many ideas. As well as your very organized pregnancy brain that was completely on point from day one :-) You really are a super hero mom :-)! Great job once again! The New Parson Family - Ericka, Forrest and Jerriah"

I hope you loved the details of this wedding as much as I did.

MEET REBECCA

Hey there! I am Rebecca Kopperud, a born and bred Alaskan, as well as the owner and chief designer behind

La Boum Events.

I began my career in event planning organizing conferences and meetings. In 2012 I had the opportunity to strike out on my own and start my own company. I choose the name La Boum Events because it is slang for "the party!" I was looking for a name that reflected my love of french culture, my bubbly personality and above all, my love for entertaining. La Boum Events was born and we absolutely took off planning Alaska's best weddings and celebrations.

Since then I have invited other super organizers and decorators to collaborate with me to offer spectacular event planning services throughout Alaska. Meet our team on our ABOUT page.
