Rebecca Kopperud
Laura and David Elope in Secret to Alaska
Updated: Dec 1, 2020
There is just something terribly romantic about two people eloping. Just two people and their vows, in the wild of Alaska. I love that.
We do lots of big weddings at La Boum Events, but I have a such a soft spot for elopement ceremonies.
Just before I sent the bride down a winding path to see her groom, she shared with me that they were eloping in secret. No one knew. This day. This moment was all about them. The bridal bouquet was made from locally grown dahlias and sweet peas from All Dahlia'd Up, a local dahlia flower farm. The flower crown was from Paper Peony.

The couple had wanted to be married by the ocean as Laura is a marine biologist.
And their mini wedding cake by Kimberly Durst Cakes had a special Chinese symbol, because the couple had met in China.

The bride had sent out post cards announcing their wedding just as they left their home town and headed on a plane for Alaska. She figured family and friends would be receiving them the day after their ceremony.
The couple had recently been to a big wedding in their home town. It didn't feel like them. So she called me.
And just like that. They were married. Easy peasy.

When it was all said and done, the bride sent us this note:
"I loved working with La Boum. I was blown away by the commitment and the professional attitude shown by Rebecca and Laura. They were very flexible and legitimately excited to see our ceremony go perfectly! I honestly feel like Rebecca and Laura bent over backwards to make our ceremony amazing. Thanks, La Boum!"

Congratulations to Laura and David. We love your wanderlust spirits and wish you every happiness. Want to see even more photos from this wedding? Check out Love Adventured.

MEET REBECCA
Hey there! I am Rebecca Kopperud, a born and bred Alaskan, as well as the owner and chief designer behind La Boum Events.
Are you thinking about eloping? Good! I think eloping is incredibly romantic and brave. It is throwing out the rule book, and putting the focus back on the two of you, where it belongs. Eloping is a movement that has been growing over the past few years. For many, it is a decision that corrects a host of issues presented by the wedding industry, and allows for a genuine celebration of a big life moment. As a wedding planner I don’t want to be a part of the problem, I want to be a part of the solution. And I want to support you.
I have been in business offering unique elopements in Alaska for years, long before it became popular. We have developed sought after industry connections, and a quality of service that is unsurpassed. You simply won’t find a one-size-fits-all elopement here. Everything truly is about you, and your special day.
We take on a limited amount of clients, so we can focus on personalization and quality. We offer a completely unique, unbundled experience so you can have exactly what you want and nothing you don’t. There is nothing cookie-cutter about what we do.
