Simple and Scenic Ceremony: Girdwood Alaska
Updated: Jan 4, 2021
This is Sarah and Oliver! These two adorable love birds met at work. They were engaged in Iceland. Married in Alaska! Check out today's dreamy elopement in Girdwood, Alaska for more great inspiration for those who love LOVE in nature.

We always recommend hiring a professional hair and make up artist. Even if you want that natural just-woke-up-like-this look, professionals can help you achieve something that looks effortless.
When I arrive on site to meet my clients (typically for the first time in person), I love to see them relaxed, breathing a sigh of relief that everything is taken care of for them.
Here Sarah is enjoying a little pampering at her Airbnb at the clever hands of Amber Molen.

Wedding flowers are picked up in Anchorage and delivered fresh that morning out to Girdwood. For Sarah and Oliver they mailed their wedding clothes up here to Alaska ahead of time because they had an 18 day adventure that included back packing the Chilkoot trail, a fishing trip to a remote wilderness lodge and their elopement in Girdwood!
So their wedding clothes wouldn't be wrinkled in their backpacks, we had them professionally steamed and then delivered them fresh and clean to them that morning.

I just have to take a moment to crush on Oliver's outfit! I love working with style forward people. Oliver's pants! His jacket! I love it.

Many couples choose to do a first look. It may sound old fashioned to wait to see each other in your wedding clothes till the wedding day - but honestly, it is so sweet.
I encourage you to take these moments. Stop and savor nature. Breath in the fresh Alaska air. Listen to your heart beat. You can actually hear it here in the stillness and in the wild. This is what eloping is about. Intimacy. Strip away the fake smiles. The pressure. And just enjoy each other.

They had a beautiful and simple ceremony out in the meadow. Sarah and Oliver included a hand fastening ceremony and read their own vows to each other.
Eloping really means getting to do what you truly want. Say what you want to say in your wedding vows. No judgement or embarrassment here.

You don't see it in these photos but we include a gorgeous heirloom marriage certificate on hand torn paper. I am a very tactile person. I love the feeling of high quality paper and want to provide a simple keepsake for our clients. The document you get from the State of Alaska is U-G-L-Y, so we include something you actually want to keep.

After the ceremony, Sarah and Oliver toasted to love with sparkling cider in vintage champagne glasses.

After the ceremony the couple hiked around the Girdwood area with their fabulous photographer Jamie Taylor. She captured so many amazing and beautiful images.

MEET REBECCA
Hey there! I am Rebecca Kopperud, a born and bred Alaskan, as well as the owner and chief designer behind La Boum Events.
Are you thinking about eloping? Good! I think eloping is incredibly romantic and brave. It is throwing out the rule book, and putting the focus back on the two of you, where it belongs. Eloping is a movement that has been growing over the past few years. For many, it is a decision that corrects a host of issues presented by the wedding industry, and allows for a genuine celebration of a big life moment. As a wedding planner I don’t want to be a part of the problem, I want to be a part of the solution. And I want to support you.
I have been in business offering unique elopements in Alaska for years, long before it became popular. We have developed sought after industry connections, and a quality of service that is unsurpassed. You simply won’t find a one-size-fits-all elopement here. Everything truly is about you, and your special day.
We take on a limited amount of clients, so we can focus on personalization and quality. We offer a completely unique, unbundled experience so you can have exactly what you want and nothing you don’t. There is nothing cookie-cutter about what we do.
Does this resonate with you? To learn more about what it is like to work with us, fill out our inquiry form for COUPLES ONLY ELOPEMENT to get started. All other inquiries go here.
